Well, I’m icing my knee and taking ibuprofen… again. This winter has thrown some curve balls, but when you already didn’t have an ACL in your knee for the last ten years you can’t blow it again… you just make the knee swollen, angry, and the bone-on-bone sections grind painfully. Ugh.
Still, not a lot to complain about. My health is mostly good and the community near and far continue to inspire. This posts keeps it more in the hyper-local category. Here are some props to cool things I’ve run across and I am tracking with in the backcountry ski community near me…
KICKASS IN THE KIRKS!
Easily one of the most creative and favorite shorts I’ve seen… plus it’s filmed in the mountains of my home range! If Wes Anderson made a ski film it’d be right in line. I’ll stop trying to sell you on this… just watch… please!
FREEBIRD RAMBLE
This skimo race and relay at 49 Degrees North Mountain Resort is the first of its kind for the hill and Rambleraven Gear Trader is tops for sponsoring. I’ll be there are on a team getting in the spirit. Will you?!

Find a friend who loves to dabble in new gear and new tech. Greg FTW. 37k viewers agree that his video on the Evolution of the Splitboard Boot really hits it out of the park. Another personal favorite is the one above from our new year ski, highlighting a stellar day of backcountry turns off Stevens Peak near the Idaho and Montana border. And finally his latest from an August trip to Chile where they write poems accompanying the shred is quite entertaining. Check it out and subscribe!
Well send your good vibes and prayers to the injured shredders among us who are itching to get back into the sport, and I hope we cross paths slopeside soon!

ps. If you uphill at Mt Spokane note a few of the following items… the uphill route extends all the way to the bottom of chair six on the backside (woohoo), the park ranger is again ticketing/warning folks if they are parked and have left their car before the 7:15am start time (yikes), and there are a few of us talking with the resort, the park, and the 501c3 Friends of Mt Spokane to hopefully continue to chat about the start time. There are more than a few of us who would like to see the time moved earlier (as it once was). Fingers crossed!
pps. Don’t miss the next bc ski friends post!
