FALL STOKE

BC SKI FRIENDS: FALL 1.4 – STOKE

Any backcountry ski friends tracking the headlines this week pertaining to the website backcountry.com?

Well, since I had just locked and loaded my little website URL this summer with the word “backcountry” in the title, I waited and watched the headlines closely this week. Backcountry.com appeared to be bullying other companies by sending “cease and desist” letters claiming they had sole ownership of their trademarked word “backcountry”. Thankfully, the masses spoke up, caused a raucous about this behavior, many companies lawyered up in response, and as a result backcountry.com issued a statement just the other day apologizing… I think backcountryskifriends.com is in the clear for now. 🙂

Hopefully you all are continuing to prep for the days when the snow begins to stack up a bit more consistently. I did my part last week, by attending a cool little ski/snowboard film fest at Whitworth University with my two boys. It was an absolute highlight of their week… the boys came home with a bunch on sweet stickers, swag, and stoke!

Get out their and support the film premieres, attend the beacon practices, do your wall sits whilst brushing teeth, and cheers to you BC Ski Friends!

BC SKI LINKS ROUND UP!

CRAZY MOUNTAINS

This flick was shown at the film fest and gave me all sorts of backcountry mission ideas and hopes for a future basecamp adventure like this. Let’s get to the Crazies ASAP!

SKIN CARE

Obviously this is a site about shredding, not your face, thus we are talking about the fury skin that sticks to the bottom of your snow stick(s). Did you know that using skin savers too much might shorten the life of your favorite uphill apparatus? Take note from our wild friends at wildsnow.com. Great tips here!

DEAD HEADS ARE OBVIOUSLY SHRED HEADS

Not sure what else to say besides… “how do I get my hands on some sweet LED lights into my night time ski get up?”

COMMITMENT OR ISSUES?

This is an unbelievable feat they pull off to keep the dream of winter of alive! Cheers to these eager beavers across the pond.

Hopefully you are kicking off another week amigos, and are finding yourself a touch more dialed in for the winter. On my list before the season hits…

  • Try on ski boots in case mine are too clapped out from too many days and volcano tours over the last four-ish years
  • Suspenders/belt for my sons snow pants… long and lean in this clan
  • Keep rocking long runs and heavy pack carries with a low heart rate so I can channel my inner Jeremy Jones from that Crazy Mountain flick above
  • Eventually transition my road bike to my basement for morning spins while watching ski films/trailers before work
  • Firm up plans to visit Roger’s pass

Much love BC Ski Friends,

–Landon

Not sure anyone ever signs people up, but I’d dare you to try…
