TOURING WINTER

BC SKI FRIENDS: WINTER 1.0 – TOURING TIPS

Happy Thanksgiving BC ski amigos (in North America)! The local hills are close to bare in my neck of the woods, but ULLR (the norse snow god) has brought a few feet of snow a couple hours north in the Selkirks. I had the fortunate opportunity to sneak up there on Saturday and get my first official tour of the season under my belt. In preparation I reviewed a bunch of good resources to make sure I was sharp before jumping on the skin track. Below is a stack of touring tips, videos and articles to fill your BC ski appetite and prepare you for your first outing…

BC SKI LINKS ROUND UP!

TREMPERS TEN

The godfather has spoken and we should all listen, and by listen I mean read and pay attention to these top ten ski commandments.

SMILEY KNOWS

This guys seems to be a future godfather (I know that isn’t a thing) with all the stuff I’m reading about him recently. Check out his seven tips for a safe tour. *Note the techy tips if you haven’t develed into this realm yet.

STOKE FOR THE TOUR

Stoke… that is all – carry on.

LEARN ON THE RIDE HOME?!

Preparing for your trip is cool, but do you chat about what you could have done better on the way home? Some call it a debrief, others call it a hot-wash, whatever you call it I highly recommend. Check out the idea here!

That’s the round-up. Lastly, here is a quick edit from Saturday’s first ski tour outing, and I made my first “blue dot” on Avalanche Canada’s observation site if you’d want to read about the conditions (*pro-tip: download the app… I just did and it’s way better than the web interface).

It’s starting to dump in various pockets around the US… the boys and I shoveled our first snow after seeing Santa tonight. Let it stack up and fill in wherever you slide BC Ski Friends!
